Getting to appreciate new personality of Courthouse Idea envisions daylight tours that will allow for historical exploration, architectural enlightenment, stories about famous Sheriff's, yarn spinning Tax Commissioners, famous trials, and then up to the Bell Tower Observatory to view our famous buildings, streets, and Lindsey Wilson College. About: Save the Courthouse Tour Stairs and more By Billy Joe Fudge After the trip to the Adair County Courthouse I am even more impressed with its many nuances and magnificent personality. Yes that is right, personality. That is the one thing we look for in folks with which we are considering developing a relationship, personality. The same with the Adair County Courthouse. In the past we have been forced to visit once in a while to do business, but now we are starting a relationship with this old building because it has personality. I've visited the bell and clock tower at night and now during the day. Let me tell you, there is as much difference as daylight and dark (pun intended). I can envision daylight tours that will allow for historical exploration, architectural enlightenment, stories about famous Sheriff's, yarn spinning Tax Commissioners, famous trials, and then up to the Bell Tower Observatory to view our famous buildings, streets, and Lindsey Wilson College. Then I can envision for the more adventurous, night time tours. Talking about personality. With lights off and a dim lantern, I can hear the stories and the short hurried breathing. I can almost hear hearts pounding as the tour guide slowly climbs the stairs and stops amid the shadows cast from the flickering flame of the lantern to deliver a breath taking story about Ol Rob About how he is thought to reside in the hollowed out walls of the Courthouse and has access to the local hotels, and bed and breakfasts via connections to the Columbia Cave System.Then the tension only tightens as the group files into the Bell Tower amid the rustling of roosting pigeons and the occasional sound of the scratching of Ol Rob digging after fleas that are said to cover his mangy furry body.I could go on and on but I bet you are envisioning, too.
