Fatality occurs this morning on KY 55 near Springfield, KY Three vehicles involved in crash investigated by KSP Post 15 Officer Dewayne Holder By Tpr. Wm. Gregory, Public Affairs OfficerKentucky State Police Post 15, Columbia, KY Springfield, KY - The Kentucky State Police are investigating a collision that occurred today, Monday, August 3, 2009 at 10:30amET/9:30amCT, 4 miles south of Springfield on KY 0055 that claimed the life of 27-year-old Matthew J. Zygmunt of Lebanon, KY. Matthew Zygmunt was operating a 2003 Dodge Neon, traveling southbound on KY 55. The vehicle crossed into the northbound lane where it struck a 1997 Toyota Camry operated by John G. Kidwell.The Zygmunt vehicle then collided with a second northbound vehicle, a 2000 Chevy Pickup operated by Kevin L. Hill, head on. All passengers in the Kidwell vehicle were belted and not injured. Hill, not belted, was flown to University of Louisville Hospital with no life threatening injuries.A belted passenger in the Hill vehicle was treated and released at the Springview Medical Center in Lebanon.
