CU track signs another West Coast star

From Campbellsville University Sports Information Dept.

The west coast continues to be a hotbed for Campbellsville University recruiting and the most-recent signee, Matt Oliver, is no exception.

Oliver will be transferring to CU from Cerritos Community College in Norwalk, Calif. to run track and cross country, according to cross country coach Scott Hortness.

At Cerritos, Oliver posted times of 11.26 in the 100 meters, 22.76 in the 200 meters and 54.61 in the 400 meters. His efforts were instrumental in the Cerritos Falcons finishing second in the California Community College Track and Field Championships.

Before attending Cerritos, Oliver was a two-year team captain for Kennedy High School.

Matt is another piece to the puzzle as we continue to try and build our track and cross country programs to the competitive level for which our athletic programs are becoming known, said Hortness. For Matt Oliver to travel across country and take on a new challenge of cross country says a great deal about his desire to obtain a quality education at a quality institution.
