Passenger dies after being thrown from pickup bed

Cambron Dillon Raikes, 22, Lebanon, KY pronounced dead at the scene. Juvenile driver of truck is charged with wanton murder, faces other charges. Officers from KSP Post 15, Columbia, KY, are investigating the accident

MARION CO., KY - A collision occurred at 1119 hours, Saturday, July 25, 2009, on Beech Fork Road, 8 miles East of Lebanon, KY. A 1996 Dodge Pickup was traveling West on Beech Fork Road. The vehicle failed to negotiate a curve and left the roadway to the right. The vehicle struck a culvert and ejected a passenger who was riding in the bed of the pickup. The vehicle then struck a barn and a tree before coming to final rest on the shoulder of the road facing East.



The passenger, identified as Cambron Dillon Raikes, age 22 of Lebanon, KY, was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver(Juvenile) and additional passenger were transported to Springview Hospital for treatment. The driver(Juvenile-name not released) was arrested at Springview Hospital and charged with Wanton Murder, Assault 1st, and Aggravated DUI 1st. The collision is being investigated by Sgt Jamie Heller. Sgt Heller was assisted at the scene by Tpr Fred Cornett, Tpr David Smith. Marion Co EMS, Marion Co Rescue, and Gravel Switch Fire Department also responded.
