Adair Co. Babe Ruth Ducks Headed to State Tournament Ducks defeat Russell Co. and Somerset teams twice, the first time an Adair County team has accomplished this feat in one quarter of a century! Adair Co. heroes include Marshall Shelley, Daniel Ellenberg, Will Hixson, Ty Bennett, Tanner Pooler, Trenton Watson, Brian Leveridge, Jacob Keltner, Evan Proffitt, Dusty Todd, and Blake Dial. Babe Ruth 13 year old Ducks baseball team were crowned champions of the 5th District last week as they won a tournament played at Lindsey Wilson College. The Ducks will now travel to Louisville on Wednesday, July 22, 2009, to open play in the 13 year old East Kentucky State Tournament being played at St. Matthews Community Park. The Ducks will battle eight other district winners for a chance to move on to the Ohio Valley Regional in Noblesville, IN, where the winner will advance to the Babe Ruth World Series in Utah. The Ducks defeated the Russell Co. and Somerset teams two times each to win the district, a feat which has not been accomplished by an Adair Co. team since 1984. Members of the Ducks squad include Marshall Shelley, Daniel Ellenberg, Will Hixson, Ty Bennett, Tanner Pooler, Trenton Watson, Brian Leveridge, Jacob Keltner, Evan Proffitt, Dusty Todd, and Blake Dial.
