Click on headline for full story plus photo By Gerald Reliford Monday night at North Oldham Little Park in Lagrange, the Adair County Lightning became back to back state champions in the Little League Senior League defeating perennial powerhouse North Oldham. The North Oldham Little League program has won a total of 24 championships and state runnerups since 2003. Three of their runnerup titles were to Adair County teams. In 2008 Adair defeated North Oldham for the state title. Again this year was the same results. This year's team has won three in a row In 2005 the Adair County eleven year olds beat them for the title. This year's team has won three years in a row. Doesn't this count as a "threepeat"? Adair County dominated the weekend tournament by beating a team from Red River 38-0. All of the Adair County bats had "ightning" in them. One hit was a two run homer by Kaylin Hughes. It was the only homerun of the tournament. Kaylin has had at least one homerun in every state tournament she has played since she was eleven years old. In the second game Lightning struck again as every player contributed to the Adair County scoring as they won 9-6 over North Oldham. All of the wins were team efforts. Every young lady did something of which they could be proud. In Monday's final game the Lightning bats again struck as several of the girls had multiple hits and great defensive plays. Thanks to good pitching and timely plays, Adair defeated North Oldham again by a score of 10-5. During the championship run every player on the team did something special to help their cause. THEY ARE A "TEAM." Together they will now go to South Bend, Indiana, for the Central Regional Championship tournament and together they hope to win and move on to the National tournament. Congratulations to the coaches and all the girls that took one more step toward a dream. Thanks to all the parents, grandparents, family members, and friends that helped make this possible.
