Wayne and I just stopped in at the Dairy Dip for an ice cream - since the evening was so nice we thought that we would sit at the picnic table and enjoy a peaceful Sunday dessert. Do you think that we could talk someone into loaning us a radar gun for a day? I would love to see just how fast those cars are zipping through downtown. Where are our city police?

. s/Barbara Armitage

Comment: Thanks. Don't know if we ought to lay this all at the feet of the police. They seem to carry out enforcement of laws citizens bring to their attention, particularly when done so at public meetings.. But you are right about the problem. The speed of traffic coming off the Square onto Jamestown Street is dangerous. Many believe the first step to reviving downtown is to set priorities, and the first priority would be to make it safe for people, for pedestrians. Many believe the courthouse cannot survive and thrive unless safe easy access is established. -EW
