Columbia Police arrest 2 in early Tues., July 14, 2009 burglary

Pair charged with taking cigarettes valued at over $2,000, undertermined amount of cash; both lodged in AC Regional Jail

Early this morning, Tuesday, July 14, 2009, at approximately 4:40amCT, Columbia Police responded to a burglary in progress at the Tobacco Discount Stoe at 899 Campbellsville RD and as a result, arrested Jonathan Morris, 30, Columbia, KY, and Bobby Bunch, 34, Jamestown, KY.

When the police had gotten to the scene, one of the men was taken into custody, the other was soon located within the the store, police say. He had at first refused to exit, but shortly afterward was taken into custody without incident.



Jonathan Morris and Bobby Bunch were each charged with alcohol intoxication, burglary 3rd, Criminal mischief 1st, and theft by unlawful taking of over $300. Both men were lodged in the Adair County Regional Jail by CPD Officer Josh brockman, who was assisted by Deputy Justin Claywell, CPD Sgt. Jason Cross, and CPD Officer Tracy McCarol.

Columbia Police say items taken were 59 cartons of cigarettes valued at over $2,000.00 and an undetermined amount of cash.

The ongoing investigation is being conducted by CPD Officer Josh Brockman.
