Obituary: Edith Floyd, 84, Adair Co., KY

Mrs. Floyd was a member of a respected East Adair County family and of the Freedom Church of God. She was a former cook at the Circle R and a homemaker

Edith Floyd age 84 of 1330 Sano Road, Columbia, KY passed away Saturday, July 11, 2009, at 2:55pmCT, at the Jane Todd Crawford Hospital in Greensburg, KY.

The funeral service will be Tuesday, July 14, 2009 at 1:00pmCT, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg ST, Collumbia, KY, with Bro. Carlie Riggs the officiating clergy. Interment in the Freedom Cemetery. The family request visiting after 3:00pmCT, Monday, July 13, 2009, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home.



She was born May 16, 1925, the daughter of the late Joe and Emma Moore Absher of Adair Co. KY.

She was preceded in death by her husband: William Walker "Billy" Floyd in 1964, and by the death of a son, Charles Edward Absher in 2001, and on brother, Holland Absher, and a sister, Thelma Wall.She is survived by the following:
  • One daughter: Patricia Floyd, Columbia, KY and fiance' Mark Hill

  • One brother: James Absher, Columbia, KY

  • Four sisters: Mattie Lawhorn, Columbia, KY, Allene Collins, Columbia, KY, Alma Furkin, Columbia, KY, and Lois Claiborne, Columbia, KY

  • Three grandchildren: Joshua Absher, Dustin Absher and Stephen Absher

  • Three great grandchildren

  • and a host of nieces and nephews
Mrs. Floyd was a member of the Freedom Church of God, a former cook at the Circle R Restaurant in Columbia, KY, and a homemaker.
