Another crash at The Crossing: 7th since CWB opened There's been another crash on the Columbia Western Bypass, again at The Crossing with Greensburg ST/Greensburg Road. More details will be coming later. Chief Mark Harris and members of the Columbia Police Department were on the scene this morning. He said that full details will be released shortly to local media. "One thing I do see," Chief Harris said, "there is a definite pattern in the problem. Most of the accidents involve northbound Bypass drivers and drivers headed south on The Dogleg who fail to see the intersection. Maybe the state can find a way to close off the dogleg to southbound traffic. Maybe that would solve the problem." The Chief's idea would have traffic on KY 61 south on Greensburg Road keep right onto Hudson Street. Northbound traffic on KY 439 (Greensburg ST) would continue to a stop at the CWB, and then would face a Yield sign at the junction with KY 61 north of the CWB. Southbound traffic on KY 61 would still be able to access the CWB to go south on KY 61 or KY 55 as they do now. Traffic to Greensburg ST from Greensburg Road would pass under the overpass and make a left onto KY 439, he said. "Traffic patterns would flow more like it used to, before the Bypass," Chief Harris said. This story was posted on 2009-07-08 08:38:08
