Is Macy's Parade stamp issue opportunity for fundraiser? By Dan Phillips I just wanted to ask you a quick question. I collect stamps and there are things called first day covers that are collectors items. Basically, the new stamp on an envelope gets cancelled on the first day that it is issued in a specific location. Some people only collect FDC's. One thing that is also done with this is that "fancy" envelopes are also designed (called cachets). The Adair County Band is going to the Macy's Day parade and this Fall a new 4 stamp series on thanksgiving day parades is being released. One could develop a "fancy" envelope specific to Adair county with the new set of new four stamps cancelled on the first day - this could all be done for less than $5 per envelope. Do you think anyone there in Adair County would like this as some sort of piece of memorabilia? or is this just not the sort of thing people would be interested in?
