Remembers Ellis Pickett as first barber

About: Remembers when Ellis Pickett cut hair during LWC years

To Julia Ann Pickett, via CM

Julia, your story brings back memories of your Dad/ I grew up in Adair County and Columbia in the fifties and sixties. In my very early years I lived on my Grandfather Simon Finn's farm in the Kemp community, just across Russell Creek from your Grandfather, Jim Willie Pickett's farm. My mother told me Ellis gave me my first haircut. He cut my hair for years after that first one, always a burr, as it was called then. I looked forward to those visits to his barber shop because Ellis would always give me a nickle or dime afterward and I would head to the Corner Drug Store to spend it.

s/Benny Finn
