Comment on photography in Adair County from Tony Harvey Has always found Adair Countians hospitable to photographers. Invites more to visit and join ColumbiaMagazine.com Group at Flickr By Tony Harvey To Maury Lewis's inquiry about stopping to ask about taking some pictures, my suggestion is unless there's a vicious acting dog loose in the front yard, then I would go for it. Need I remind Ms. Lewis that she is still in The South here in Adair County, KY. Just act like a tourist and the locals will warm you over with our famous southern hospitality, they might even invite you to stay for a meal. In all of my travels around the county shooting images of flowers, wildlife or the pretty flowery fields that you mention, not once have I ever been told "No", as long as I was polite in speaking to the owners of the property. I was kidding about acting like a tourist. Just be yourself and I'm sure that you will be enjoying the pleasures of the beauty that our county and state has to offer. There is nearby Green River lake if you enjoy swimming, fishing, boating or hiking. Upcoming there is the Adair County fair, if you've never experienced a county fair before then be sure to mark your calendar starting on July 7th.,br> Throughout the year Adair County has several events that are held on the Square such as singing, the infamous recreation of the Jesse James robbery of the Bank of Columbia and many other interesting things to indulge your senses in. In nearby Russell County they have Lake Cumberland State Park which affords the same pleasures of the outdoors and tennis courts, 9 hole golf course, camping etc... across the state there various sorts of things to enjoy all year long. If you haven't visited the Columbia Magazines photography group at Flickr then I encourage you do so. We have a very good diversification of photographers who share their work both there and on ColumbiaMagazine.com (over 10,000 photos with detailed cutlines). Be sure to have a look at Flickr.com, where 2,000 photos, many of which have not been posted on the main page of ColumbiaMagazine.com are at ColumbiaMagazine.com Group at Flickr We welcome everyone to Adair County, to our very own slice of heaven - one of the best kept secrets on earth.
