Rep. Carney appointed to National Legislative Committee

Special ColumbiaMagazine.com story

FRANKFORT, KY- In his first session as a member of the Kentucky General Assembly, State Representative Bam Carney (R-Campbellsville) has been recognized for his ardent work as a legislator and for that, has been named as a member of the National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL) Health Committee.

"Undoubtedly, the best part of my job is serving the people of Taylor and Adair Counties, said Representative Carney, but, I am extremely honored by my appointment to this national committee, especially as a freshman legislator.

The Health Committee is one of eleven NCSL standing committees and studies issues such as Medicaid, health care access, public health and prescription drug coverage. The committee, which meets four times a year, allows legislators the opportunity to learn from the experiences of their counterparts in order to develop successful strategies for their own states.

Im excited about meeting with the other members to discuss issues that face our legislature," Rep. Carney said, "Every state deals with different issues, but realizing that we all have to tackle and answer difficult questions brings us together as we work towards improving the quality of life for our citizens."
