Obituary: Thelbert Burton, 77, Kingsport, TN Mr. Burton was a member of a large, distinguished Adair County family. He was a veteran of the Korean War and will be accorded full military honors by VFW Post 6097. He was a long time member of Bashford Manor Baptist Church in Louisville KY, and was retired after a career with General Electric at Appliance Park in Louisville, KY Thelbert Burton age 77 years of Kingsport, TN formerly of Adair County and Louisville, KY, passed away Saturday, June 20, 2009 at 7:03pmCT, at his home, surrounded by his family. Visitation will be from 5-7:00pmCT, Monday evening, June 22, 2009, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg ST, Columbia, KY followed by funeral service at 7:00pmCT, with Dr. Greg Burton officiating. A graveside service for family and close friends is on Tuesday, June 23, 2009, at 11:00amCT, at Haven Hill Cemetery, 1276 Liberty Road, Columbia, KY, with full military honors by VFW Post 6097. He is a Korean War Veteran who lived in Illinois, Iowa and Louisville, KY. He was a member of Colonial Heights Baptist Church in Kingsport, where his son is the pastor. He and his wife were long-time members of Bashford Manor Church in Louisville, KY. He was a retired electrical worker with General Electric at Appliance Park in Louisville, KY. He was born January 20, 1932, in Christine, Adair Co., KY on January 20, 1932, the son of the late Johnie and Delie McQueary Burton of Adair County.
