National Day of Prayer service held at CU By Linda Waggener, CU feature writer CAMPBELLSVILLE, KY - "Pray to God to give somebody another chance," Rev. Mikie Ash told those in attendance at the National Day of Prayer breakfast on CU's campus. "Pray in times of joy," Ash, pastor of the Mt. Union Baptist Church in Allendale, said, "And pray in times of trouble, always interceding for others. Lift each other up and turn everything over to the Lord. If you don't pray, you have no power." After his message, the prayer for our nation was led by Rev. Joe Hatchett, pastor of Campbellsville Christian Church. The breakfast was sponsored by the Taylor County Ministerial Association. Rev. John Chowning, secretary of the TCMA, is vice president for church and external relations and executive assistant to President Michael V. Carter. Also participating in the program were Rev. Michael Caldwell, vice president of the TCMA, and Rev. Fella Wilson, pastor of Woodlawn Christian Church, who provided introductions; and Father James Bromwich, pastor, Our Lady of the Hills Catholic Church, who provided the benediction. Campbellsville University is a private, comprehensive institution located in South Central Kentucky. Founded in 1906, Campbellsville University is affiliated with the Kentucky Baptist Convention and has an enrollment of 2,601 students who represent 93 Kentucky counties, 27 states and 31 foreign nations. Listed in U.S.News & World Report's 2009 "America's Best Colleges," CU is ranked 22nd in "Best Baccalaureate Colleges" in the South for the second consecutive year. CU has been ranked 16 consecutive years with U.S.News & World Report. The university has also been named to America's Best Christian Colleges(R). Campbellsville University is located 82 miles southwest of Lexington, Ky., and 80 miles southeast of Louisville, Ky. Dr. Michael V. Carter is in his tenth year as president.
