Gas company loses one of its staples today

Gas Superintendent Joe Hare will be missed

By Steven Baker
Today, Friday, June 20, 2009, at 4:00pmCT, Columbia Utilities will be losing one of it's staples over the last few years. Joe "Old Coddger" Hare will be hanging it up.

Joe has worked with Columbia Utilities for over 17 years total over two stints with the company.

He began this last go around on April 29, 1996.

For those of you that know Joe, and are worried he may get bored with retirement. Don't fret.

Word on the street is that Joe has already picked up a new job as a semi-pro fisherman, part-time bus boy at Betty's, and world class story teller.

I have worked with Joe for around five years now, and he has been one of the best bosses anyone could ask for.

For those who see Joe out and about on his retirement, don't leave your drink lying unattended for it may develop a leak in it, resulting in a shirt full of your favorite drink. Just one of the pranks that Joe is famous for.

From everyone at Columbia Utilities, Joe, you will be missed!
