Nature journaling workshop at Salato Center, June 27, 2009 From Kentucky Fish & Wildlife Naturalist and artist Roberta Burnes will be at Salato Wildlife Center, #1 Sportsmans Lane Frankfort, KY 40601, will present an afternoon of nature observation, writing and sketching from 1:00pm to 4:00pmET, Saturday, June 27, 2009. This workshop is for anyone wanting to find a style in nature journaling. You dont have to be an artist to observe and record the natural world around you. Burnes will explore different techniques and exercises that will help anyone get started. The center will provide nature journals to all participants. The program is for ages 13 and up. The cost is $15. The Salato Center has a variety of native animals for the public to see, including a black bear, bobcats, elk, deer, bison, eagles, snakes and fish. The Center has numerous indoor exhibits and miles of hiking trails open to the public. Fishing is available at two lakes. While some programs may require a registration fee, general admission to the Salato Center is free. For more information call 1-800-858-1549, ext. 4445. The Salato Center, #1 Sportsmans Lne, Frankfort, KY, operated by Kentucky Fish and Wildlife, is located at the departments headquarters on U.S. 60 in Frankfort, 1.5 miles west of U.S. 127. Hours of operation are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays. The Center is closed Sundays, Mondays and state holidays.
