Tobacco Hornworm Moth, aka Hummingbird Moth B.J. Fudge's interesting 'Moonlight beastie' has dubious, problematic previous life, when it is the notorious green tobacco worm, whose diet also includes tomato leaves. -CM About: Flowers and Insects of Adair Co., KY: Moonflower beast To ColumbiaMagazine.com:When I saw Billy Joe's picture of the hummingbird moth I smiled because I first encountered this moth last year on the same type of flower. Little did I know that we were well acquainted. A trip to the local extension office and Nick Roy revealed that the identity of this night time creature is truly a hummingbird moth or prehaps better known to many Adair Countians as a Tobacco Hornworm Moth. s/Terry Partin This story was posted on 2009-06-18 13:58:49
