Obituary: Barbara Branham Burton, 70, Columbia, KY

She was a member of a large, respected Adair County family. She attended New Hope Separate Baptist Church and was a homemaker

Barbara Branham Burton. age 70 years of 1174 T. P. Cundiff Road Columbia, KY, the Garlin community. passed away Sunday, June 14, 2009 at 5:25pmCT at her home after an illness.

The funeral service will be Wednesday, June 17, 2009, at 11:00amCT, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg ST, Columbia, KY, with officiating Bro. David Coffey officiating. Interment in Bearwallow Cemetery, 6132 Liberty Road, Columbia, KY. Visitation will be after 4:00pmCT on Tuesday, June 16, 2009, at the funeral home.



She was born September 14, 1938, the daughter of the late Clarence and Hila Pierce Branham and was the widow of Hindman Burton who preceded her in death on April 19, 1993.Survived by the following:
  • Two daughters: Debbie Giles and husband Glenn of Edinburgh, IN; and Barbara Partin and husband Tim of Columbia, KY

  • Three sons: Dale Fair and wife Teresa of Columbia, KY; Leslie Tucker and wife Linda of Columbia, KY; and Mike Tucker and wife Pam of Glasgow, KY

  • Two step-children: Bobby Burton of Columbia, KY; and Jean Marsegula of Texas

  • One brother: Melvin Branham of Columbia, KY

  • Two sisters: Vernell Branham of Louisville, KY; and Zula Lucus of Bowling Green, KY

  • A very special friend: Arlious Buddy Kearns

  • Nurse: Melissa Corbin

  • Friend: Rachel Moss

  • Nine grandchildren, seven step grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren

  • And several nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends survive.
She attended the New Hope Separate Baptist Church and was a homemaker

Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home in charge of funeral arrangements.
