Shelley appointed to KY Animal Diagnostic Lab Committee

Special ColumbiaMagazine.com story

Governor Steven Beshear has appointed J.M. Shelley, Columbia, KY, to serve as a member of the Kentucky Animal Diagnostic Laboratory Advisory Committee.

Shelley is a native of Columbia, KY, the son of the Dorothy Shelley and the late John Shelley of Columbia. He is the owner of owner of Elk Creek Farm on Edmonton Road in the Bliss Community of Adair County and is a former Adair County District 4 Magistrate, the only Democrat, at least in recent history, ever to be elected to that position.

He retired after a career as Spencer County Extension Agent for Agriculture, just prior to his return to Adair County, KY.

Shelley represents farmers on the board. The appointment replaces Victor G. Williams, whose term has expired. Shelley was appointed to a four year term expiring April 18, 2013.

Shelley is married to the former Marla Ballou, who operates Casey House Antiques & Collectibles in the historic 1816 Home of Colonel William Casey, on 1081 Edmonton RD, Columbia, KY.
