An Address Marker Q & A: Do I simply put it on my mailbox?

Mary Allender, 911 Coordinator for Adair County, also is the Address Coordinator. A Frequently Asked Question she gets:
Do I Put My Address Marker on My Mailbox?: The answer is, It depends. If the mailbox is in your yard. Yes. Mount it on the Box. If your mailbox is across the road from your yard, the Address Marker should be placed on a post or in your yard.
Also, she says, if mailboxes are in a bank of boxes, it is better to place the marker on a post in the yard.
