Dr. Holly Abel is regional academic director for the Lindsey Wilson School of Professional Counseling in Hazard, KY. Her beautiful black shorthair female cat, rescued from an abusive owners, turned out to be a perfect mother, and has blessed the world with three gorgeous kittens: The loving Hershey, high-spirited Bandit, and the playful, energetic Thumper.

As much as the kittens are loved and cared for, Dr. Abel wants to place the them in loving homes. Detailed curriculum vitae for each of these cats, including Shadow, follow:

  • Shadow (mom): Rescued from abusive owners, kicked her repeatedly while obviously pregnant, had to eat from their trashcans, the best mother cat I've witnessed (very attentive and protective), is my outside cat now, bosses my 85+lb. Weimeraner and Black Lab around, hoping she will catch lots of mice for me, father of kittens is unknown.

  • Hershey (female): She is the most loving of all the kittens, wants moms attention before she wants to eat, likes to give kisses, silver black tabby, crook in middle of tail, tail is about 1" long, runt of litter, loves to play, has the sweetest personality and spirit towards people and other cats.

  • Bandit (male): He is high-spirited, very playful, energetic, dark brown/tan black tabby, will be a bug catcher/eater, neat personality, likes people and other cats, purrs a lot, tail is about 1" long, first kitten of all 6 to show ownership of his own food (feisty and smart), litter box trained, is the dark colored twin to Thumper.

  • Thumper (male): He is high-spirited, very playful, energetic, light brown/tan black tabby, tail is about 1" long, will be a bug catcher/eater, neat personality, likes people and other cats, litter box trained, is the light colored twin to Bandit.
Dr. Holly Abel is Assistant Professor-Regional Academic Director, Lindsey Wilson College-School of Professional Counseling, Southern Appalachian Office, 279 E. Main St. Hazard, KY. (605) 436-1001.
