Tractor show time at Garrison Construction almost here One highlight this year will be restored International Mr. James Wilkinson used to haul bulk ice to Crystal Ice Co. in Columbia, KY Click on headline for full story and picture(s) Special ColumbiaMagazine.com story The 13th Annual Russell Creek Antique Gas Engine and Tractor Show will be held Saturday, June 20, 2009, at Garrison Construction Company, 6960 Greensburg RD, 7 miles north of Columbia, KY on Hwy 61 at Clay Ridge, between Columbia and Greensburg, KY. It's as much fun as a county fair, and admission is free. This year, of special interest to Columbia residents, Mr. Garrison will the KB6 International Truck that was once owned by James Wilkinson. Mr. Wilkinson operated Crystal Ice Company in a building which stood at 107 N. High Street, Columbia, KY, where the Adair 911 Center is now located. Lewis Garrison said that Mr. Wilkinson would buy ice from plants in Somerset, Campbellsville, and Bowling Green, and haul it in the International truck to Columbia, unload it in his cooler, and then retail it in small blocks and as crushed. "We bought the truck from the estate and restored it," Mr. Garrison said. There will be a huge number of restored tractors, trucks, and other restored farm equipment, including a veritable museum owned by Louis Garrison himself. The show is free and open to the public. Among the events included again this year are the Kiddy Tractor Pull at 1:00pmCT, with awards presented for 1st and 2nd Place and contests including slow-go, egg on a spoon, barrel roll, and ball-in-a-bucket. Trophies will be presented for games, and a people's choice will be presented. Food and drink is available on the grounds.
