Kids outdoor day at GRL State park, Camp Kentahten By Shawn Canada Kids outdoor day is an annual event held at Green River Lake State Park and Tim Horton's Camp Kentahten in Campbellsville, KY on the first Saturday in June, which this year is June 6, 2009. It is a fun filled day of outdoor activities with the goal of introducing children and their parents to the great outdoors. For many this is the first opportunity to catch their first fish, shoot their first bull's eye or go for their first boat ride. The event is hosted by the Green River Chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation in cooperation with the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife, the staff of Tim Horton's Camp Kentahten and Green River Lake State Park and local area volunteers. The day's events consist of outdoor activities that the whole family can enjoy and everything is free of charge. The activities consist of Archery, Air Rifle, Boating, Fishing, Turkey-Duck and Goose Calling, 22 Rifle Shooting, Trap Shooting, Hay Rides, Swimming, Canoe and Pontoon Boating, Face Painting, Bounce Houses and Inflatable Obstacle Courses and much more. Lunch is provided for all in attendance and the children receive a T-shirt. Door prizes are given away at the end of the day. All of this is made possible thanks to the hard work of numerous volunteers and donations from local and national businesses and the cooperation of the event sponsors.
