VFW stands up against military suicides Jimmie might still be not have committed suicide, if signs had been noticed back in 1971, Wayne Kirby writes To all Friends, We as Veterans can see the signs of stress on our returning Veterans , some of us had the signs when we came home and some still do. If I had paid attention to a friend of mine, Jimmie Green, in 1971 when he came back from second tour with the 9th Division in VietNam...Jimmie had sought help but at that time no one understood us. Jimmie later committed suicide. Jim and I grew up together and worked together before going in service I just wished I had known what to do. All Veterans Groups could set up an outreach program to let the Vets get things off their minds relieve the stress a little get them involved with the V.A. doctors who treat PTSD (post traumatic stress disorder. -CM) and help do the paper work needed. Moral of the troops abroad and at home should be kept high , it is up to the American public and media to do that, along with the people in the White house to make sure their return home is a good one Returning VietNam Vets were treated badly resulting in more Stress and cause for PTSD no matter what the shrinks say it played a big role in our returning to normal life style.
