Columbia City Pool opens today, Saturday, May 30, 2009

The Columbia City Pool will be opening Saturday, May 30, 2009 for the Summer. The admission will be $2.00 a day and three year olds and under are free with a paying adult.

The regular pool hours for this summer will be Monday - Saturday, Noon to 5:00pmCT and Sundays 1:00pm to 5pmCT. The pool is located at the City Park, in the Adair County Fairgrounds, 313 Fairgrounds ST, Columbia, KY.



The pool offers a large swim area that ranges from three feet deep to ten feet with a diving board on the deep end. There is also water volleyball and basketball in the large pool.

A kiddy pool is located beside the main pool that ranges from 18 inches to nine inches deep with a patio deck around it for sunning. Refreshments such as hot dogs, candy bars, and soft drinks are available at the snack bar.

Parties may be booked by calling (270) 384-1704 during regular pool hours. The cost of a party is $60 for two hours with up to 40 people, or $75 for two hours with 41 people or more.

Additional time may be added to each party price for an additional fee. A lifeguard is provided and you are welcomed to bring your own party supplies.

Fun at Columbia City Park

NICHOLAS SCRUGGS, 4, was at the park today with his father, Nathan Scruggs, enjoying a climb on the playset while his dad kept watch. Today was opening day for the swimming pool, which remains open until 5:00pmCT today. The pool was the most popular area of the park today, but others were playing basketball. The park is now managed by the Columbia Parks & Recreation Board, Charles Grimsley, chairman; with members David Herbst, Donna Shirley, Richard Phelps, and Greg Thomas.
