Obituary: Helen Bohanon Cox, 82, Campbellsville, KY

Mrs. Cox was a member of a leading Taylor County family whose life leaves a lasting impact on a wide area of South Central Kentucky. She was the co-founder of Cox Cabinet Co, Cox Interior, and what is today known as Mannsville Sash & Door. She was a member of Campbellsville Christian Church

Helen Bohanon Cox of Campbellsville, daughter of the late Lonzo Thomas Bohanon and Pansy White Bohanon was born May 4, 1927 in Taylor County, Kentucky. She died at 3:15 P.M., Saturday, May 23, 2009 in Campbellsville. She was 82.

The funeral service will be at 1:00pmET, Wednesday, May 27, 2009 at the Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home, 418 Lebanon Avenue in Campbellsville by Dr. Paul W. Patton and Minister Joe Hatchett, with burial in Brookside Cemetery.



She professed faith in Christ and was a member of the Campbellsville Christian Church. She and her husband founded Cox Cabinet Company, Cox Interior and Cox Weather Stripping (which is now Mannsville Sash and Door).

She united in marriage to Charles E. Cox December 16, 1944. He preceded her in death September 30, 2002.

She is survived by the following:
  • Three sons and one daughter and their spouses: Barry and Lucy Cox, Lanny and Joyce Cox, and Kay and Larry Legg of Campbellsville, KY; and Steve and Moira Cox of Louisville, KY
  • Twelve grandchildren: Jennifer Taylor, Aaron Cox, Carol Simmons and Charles Cox of Campbellsville, KY; Grant Cox, Landon Cox, Lanai Cox, Erica Rinehimer, Ryan Arnold and Ashley Arnold of Louisville, KY; Benji Cox of Atlanta, GA, and Leigh Ann Simmons of Cincinnati, OH

  • Ten great-grandchildren: Morgan Taylor, Cayela Harris, Austin Cox of Campbellsville, KY; Ashton Cox, Grant Cox, and Jackson Rinehimer of Louisville, KY: Payton Back, Benjamin Cox and Sophia Cox of Atlanta, GA; and Evan Simmons of Cincinnati, OH

  • One great-great-grandson: Ceaton Harris of Campbellsville, KY

  • A sister-in-law: Velma Bohanon of Campbellsville, KY

  • A nephew and his wife: Alan and Rita Bohanon and a great-niece, Ashley Elizabeth Bohanon of Campbellsville, KY and many other relatives and friends.
She was also preceded in death by one brother, Cosby Bohanon October 2, 2000.

PALLBEARERS: Alan Bohanon, Benji Cox, Craig Cox, grant Cox, Landon Cox, Billy Dabney, and Walter Rhodes.
