Obituary: Gertie Price Wilcoxson, 91, Greensburg, KY

Mrs. Wilcoxson was a native of Adair Co., KY, and a member of Summershade United Methodist Church in Green County. She was the head of a large, respected family and a homemaker

Mrs. Gertie Price Wilcoxson of Greensburg, Kentucky, daughter of the late Jeddy Price and Zora Munday Price, was born on September 21, 1917 in Adair County, KY, and departed this life on Thursday, May 21, 2009 at the Golden Living Center-Green Hill in Greensburg, KY. She was 91 years and eight months of age.

The funeral services for Mrs. Gertie Price Wilcoxson will be conducted at 1:00pmCT, Saturday, May 23, 2009 at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home, 206 South Main ST, Greensburg, KY, Greensburg, KY, with burial to follow in the Summershade Cemetery, next to Summershade United Methodist Church, 499 Bramlett Kemp RD, Greensburg, KY. Visitation will be from 4:00pmCT to 9:00pmCT today, Friday, May 21, 2009, and from 7:00amCT until the time of the funeral Saturday, May 22, 2009.



She had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Summershade United Methodist Church and was a homemaker.

She united in marriage to Mort Wilcoxson on July 10, 1956 who preceded her in death on July 22, 1985.

Survivors include the following:
  • A daughter and son-in-law: Joyce and William "Bill" Kelly, Greensburg, KY

  • Five step-children: Herman Wilcoxson and his wife Thelma of Illinois; Wanda Henson, Columbia, KY; Frank Wilcoxson and his wife Jane of Florida; Ophelia Miller of Oklahoma, and Julian Wilcoxson of Colorado

  • A brother: Herbert Price, Louisville, KY

  • Two grandchildren: Jeremiah Kelly and Sayard Kelly

  • And 11 step-grandchildren; and a host of step-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends
She was also preceded in death by three sisters: Alta Akin, Bertie Keltner, Aileen Sneed; and three brothers: Dallas Price, Arlis Price and Leon Price.

PALLBEARERS: Finley Akin, Dennis Price, Ray Price, Junior Sneed, Larry Keltner, and Jeremiah Kelly.
