Obituary: Roman Elmore, 90, Summersville, KY

Mr. Elmore was a member of the Brush Creek Baptist Church and a lifetime farmer.

Mr. Roman Elmore of Summersville, Kentucky, son of the late Elliott Elmore and Mary Nisha Marcum Elmore, was born on October 7, 1918 in Green County and departed this life on Wednesday, May 13, 2009 at the Golden Living Center-Green Hill. He was 90 years, seven months and six days of age.

The funeral services for Mr. Roman Elmore was conducted at 2:00pmCT, Sunday, May 17, 2009 at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home, 206 South Main ST, Greensburg, KY, with burial in the Bloyd-Perkins Cemetery. Bro. Otis Skaggs officiated.



He had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Brush Creek Baptist Church and was a lifelong farmer.

He united in marriage to Susie Rattliff on November 29, 1941who survives.

Other survivors include the following:
  • A daughter and son-in-law: Jane and Marion Walker, Greensburg, KY

  • A son: Jimmy Elmore, Summersville, KY,li>
  • Two grandchildren: Jeff Walker and his wife Zola, Taylor County, KY, and Tyler Walker, Glasgow, KY

  • Two great-grandchildren: Logan Walker and Landon Walker both of Taylor County, KY

  • Two sisters-in-law: Barbara Rattliff Greensburg, KY; and Margaret Elmore, Summersville, KY

  • And a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Mr. Elmore was also preceded in death by 14 brothers and sisters: Ethel Marcum, Lennie Elmore, Kattie Elmore, Earvin Elmore, Bertha Parker, Axie Pittman, Exie Milby, Elvie Elmore, Truman Elmore, Edd Elmore, Pauline Curry, Clay Elmore, Lissie Underwood, and Alice Rattliff.

PALLBEARERS: Charlie Elmore, George Elmore, James H. Elmore, Robert E. Rattliff, Jerry Rattliff, David Wayne Scott, Ira Bloyd, Jr., Eddie Paxton, and C.W. VanArsdale.
