Agrees with CM, but thinks it is a matter of self-reliance

About: "Coach says stance may deter readership of CM"

Ed,

I'm with you on this one. I don't buy into the "time' argument you put forth but you have taken a principled stand otherwise. I hear you loud and clear in your support for the ballfield and I also agree that it is a community facility and should be supported by the local community.

The opposing mindset seems to be that someone else should take care of us because we're incapable of doing it ourselves.

I feel that attitude is prevalent not only in Adair but across the country and is at odds with what made this country the greatest in the world.

Had our Adair County forebears had this attitude, I seriously doubt there would be an Adair County. Unfortunately we are seeing less independence and an eagerness to wait for someone else to do just about everything for us.

The argument that someone is going to get it so it might as well be us also falls as flat as it sounds. Just a little thought shows not only the fallacy but also the danger in such thinking.
