Obituary: Mr. Fred C. Sparks, 79, formerly of Summersville, KY

Mr. Sparks was a member of the Summersville Baptist Church and was a retired machine operator

Mr. Fred C. Sparks, age 79, of Hodgenville, formerly of Summersville, Green County, KY, passed on Friday at the Sunrise Manor Nursing Home in Hodgenville, KY.

The funeral services for Mr. Fred C. Sparks will be conducted at 10:00amCT, Monday, May 11, 2009, at the Cowherd & Parrott Funeral Home, 206 South Main ST, Greensburg, KY, with Rev, Chuck Pollard and Rev. Mike Walker officiating. Burial will be in the Green County Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3:00pm until 9:00pmCT Sunday, May 10, 2009, at the Cowherd & Parrott Funeral Home and after 7:00amCT, Monday, May 11, 2009.



Mr. Frederic C. Sparks of Greensburg, Kentucky, son of the late Frederic J. and Ruby Philpot Sparks, was born April 6, 1930 in Jefferson County and departed this life on Friday, May 8, 2009 in Hodgenville at the Sunrise Manor Nursing Home. He was 79 years,1 month and 2 days of age.

He had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Summersville Baptist Church and was a former machine operator for TGT.

He united in marriage to Frances Lindsey on September 20, 1950 who survives.

He is also survived by the following:
  • Three sons and two daughters-in-law: Dennis and Donna Sparks of Versailles; Gary and Markie Sparks of Magnolia, KY; and Tony Sparks of Greensburg, KY

  • Two daughters and sons-in-law: Colleen andJay Wright of Georgia; and Monica and Jason Underwood, Greensburg, KY

  • One sister: Barbara Abel, Georgetown, KY

  • And 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren
PALLBEARERS: Greg Sparks, Jeremy Sparks, Brandon Sparks, Ricky Grimes, Darrell Key and David Lindsey Expressions of Sympathy are requested to the Gideon Bible Fund and can be made at the funeral home.
