Obituary: Helen Parrott Simpson, 88, Campbellsville, KY

Mrs. Simpson formerly lived in Greensburg, KY. She was a member of Greensburg Baptist Church, a former employee of Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home, and of J & H Food Market

Mrs. Helen Parrott Simpson of Campbellsville, Kentucky formerly of Greensburg, daughter of the late Fred L. Parrott and Bessie Young Parrott, was born on April 25, 1921 in Campbellsville, Taylor County, Kentucky and departed this life on Wednesday, May 6, 2009 at the Jane Todd Crawford Hospital in Greensburg. She was 88 years and 11 days of age.

The funeral services for Mrs. Helen Parrott Simpson will be conducted at 1:00pmCT, Saturday, May 9, 2009 at the Greensburg Baptist Church, 28 N Main ST, Greensburg, KY with burial to follow in the Brookside Cemetery in Campbellsville, KY. Bro. Mike Akridge and Bro. Carlos Compton will be officiating.



She had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Greensburg Baptist Church for approximately 60 years. She was a former employee for the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home and owner of J & H Food Market. She was also a member of the Red Hatters.

She united in marriage to John A. Simpson on September 25, 1938 who preceded her in death.

Survivors include the following:
  • A son: Bobby Joe Simpson, LaGrange, KY

  • A daughter and son-in-law: Linda and Barry Houk of Greensburg, KY

  • Seven grandchildren and spouses: Melvin and Lori Houk, Eddyville, KY; Robbie and Wanda Houk, Greensburg, KY; Debbie and Ryan Hepworth of Florida; Kelli and Gene Roy, LaGrange, KY; Doug and Angie Simpson of Tennessee; Joe and Kim Simpson of Tennessee, and Corey and Alyson Simpson, Louisville, KY

  • Sixteen great-grandchildren

  • And a host of other relatives and friends
She was also preceded in death by two brothers and a sister: Walter Lee Parrott, Sr., Robert "Bob" Parrott, and Louise Parrott Buchanan.

The family has requested that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the Gideon Bible Fund or the Greensburg Baptist Church Christian Life Center, which can be made at the funeral home.

PALLBEARERS: Grandchildren and their spouses.

HONORARY: Ladies Sunday School Class, Greensburg Baptist Church Deacons: Henry Hall, Steve Simpson, Wallace Jeffries, Bobbie Blakeman, Ray Acree, Eli Milby, J.R. Bishop, and Dale Sutherland.
