Obituary: Alma Lucille Matthews, 87, Edmonton, KY

Mrs. Matthews was the matriarch of a very large Metcalfe County family. She leaves 46 living descendants

ALma Lucille Matthews, 87, Edmonton, KY, died Thursday, May 7, 2009, at TJ Samson Community Hospital in Glasgow, KY.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00pmCT, Sunday, May 10, 2009, at Butler Funeral Home, 201 East South ST, Edmonton, KY, with burial in the Big Meadow Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1:00m until 8:00pmCT, Saturday, May 9, 2009 and after 9:00amCT Sunday at the funeral home.



She was the daughter of the late Otha and Magnolia Runyon Bennett. She was a homemaker and the widow of James Robert Matthews.

She is survived by the following:
  • Three sons: Charles Wayne (Brenda) Matthews of Edmonton, KY; James (Rebecca) Matthews, Glasgow, KY; and Richard (Mary) Matthews, Edmonton, KY

  • One daughter: Dona (Charles) Hutton, Knob Lick, KY
  • Fifteen grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren
Butler Funeral Home, 201 East East Street, Edmonton, KY, is in charge of arrangements.
