Artist Fred Spoon presented Governor Steve Beshear with one of Spoon's handcrafted tobacco leaf/tobacco stick pens at the Governor's Derby Derby Breakfast in Frankfort, Saturday, May 2, 2009.

The pen is especially engraved with the Governor's name on it.

Spoon and wife Peggy Spoon, Egypt, KY, took their Pens to Remember exhibit to the Derby Breakfast for the second year in a row. Fred Spoon was one of about 20 artisans displaying their art at the Capitol.

The Adair County couple came up with this idea of the tobacco leaf/tobacco stick about two years ago and the pens have been very popular.

The tobacco leaf and stick came from Eddie Hutchison's Farm in the Egypt community.
