Obituary: Maxie Coomer, 71

Mr. Coomer was a member a large, respected West Adair County Family, and was a member of Morris Chapel United Methodist Church

Maxie Coomer, 71, a resident of Metcalfe County Nursing Homein Edmonton, KY, formerly of the Morris Chapel Community in Adair County, KY, passed away at 3:50amCT, Saturday, May 2, 2009, at T. J. Samson Hospital in Glasgow, KY.

Funeral service Monday, May 4, 2009 at 1:00pmCT at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg ST, Columbia, KY, with Rev. Selby Coomer officiating. Interment in Morris Chapel Cemetery on Weed Keltner Road in Adair County. Visitation will be after 4:00pmCT, Sunday, May 3, 2009, at the funeral home.

He was born February 17, 1938, the son of the late Jerome and Gladys Munday Coomer of Adair County.

He is survived by the following:
  • Six brothers: Rev. Selby Coomer and his wife Shirley, Madisonville, KY; Glenn Coomer and his wife Annette, Columbia, Ky., Dalton Coomer & his wife Fay of Columbia, KY; Loy Coomer and his wife Rita, Peedles, OH, Gary Coomer and his wife Virginia of Edmonton, KY; and Darrell Coomer and his wife Connie, Columbia, KY

  • One sister: Carolyn Sue Coomer, Columbia, KY

  • And several nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends
He was a member of Morris Chapel United Methodist Church.
