Obituary: Robert L. Franklin, 69

He was a member of a respected South Adair County family. He was a great small engine mechanic and an avid clock collector. He is remembered for his quiet, but friendly manner, and for the Outback Walkabout type hat, which was his trademark

Robert L. Franklin, 69, Columbia, KY, died Sunday, April 26, 2009, at 8:40amCT, at Westlake Regional Hospital Emergency Room.

The funeral service will be Tuesday, April 28, 2009, at 11:00amCT, at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home, 200 Campbellsville ST, Columbia, KY, with Rev. Elbert Hadley officiating. Burial will be in Harvey Cemetery. Visitation will be after 9:00amCT, Tuesday, at the funeral home.



He was a son of the late Marvin and Emma Spoon Franklin.

Survivors include the following:
  • Four brothers: Elmo Franklin, Martin Bryant, and Clurel Murphy, all of Columbia, KY, and David Murphy of Bowling Green, KY

  • Four sisters: Lillie Mae Franklin, Greensburg, KY; and Susie Handy, Dorothy Murphy, and Maggie Grider, all of Columbia, KY

  • And several nieces, nephews, and friends
