Guest Epicurean Kentuckian Cindy Meyer:
Jim's Grill, Edmonton, KY

Longtime Edmonton eatery has hard to beat variation of the original "Debbie Burger." A marvelous handwich served, Metcalfe Co. style, on Texas Toast, deluxed with veritable salad, two cheeses!

While traveling through Edmonton, KY, a few weeks ago, and stopped by at Jim's Grill, I got my "usual" which is a variation of the original "Debbie Burger" - 4 oz. fresh ground beef grilled with jalapeno peppers, on top of crispy lettuce, tangy tomato, crunchy sweet onion, pickles, mayo all nestled between toasted Texas Toast with (American Cheese on top, Pepper Jack Cheese on the bottom slice.

Cherry served it up on a plate, and said "That looks good enough to take a picture of." Of course I always have my camera with me and, snapped away! So the burger was not prepped for the camera- it came straight off the grill!

Nothing better than tall cold glass of Sweet Tea ($1.29), an order of Curly Fries ($1.69) and a Burger ($2.49).

However I suggest that you bring an appetite or a fellow traveler because it is more than the average person can eat. If you order a burger - not sure what it is named - just describe it. I believe they are going to have a contest to name it.

Great place for lunch, you might think twice about going for supper as they close at 2:00pm, Monday through Friday; although if you go there for lunch, you won't want much for supper anyway!

Hope you'll give it a try on your travels. Do check out Jim's Grill... just above the library in Edmonton, KY. It is well worth the trip. Good food, moderately priced served by great people.JIM'S GRILL, 206 S. Main Street, Edmonton, KY 42129. Phone (270) 432-3262. Just south of the Metcalfe County Library. Across Main Street from The Barnlot Theater.
