Melissa Taylor likes Sharyn McCrumb mountain stories

About: "Tom Chaney 202 Review The Songcatcher"

To ColumbiaMagazine.com

I was first drawn to Sharyn McCrumb's writing when I found her 1995 novel, "If I'd killed him when I met him..." Admittedly, I bought the book because I was intrigued by the title; but it began my love of Ms. McCrumb's writing. I've been hooked since then!

Mr. Chaney speaks of not leaving when you're called for dinner --- you aren't able to hear the call because when you are immersed in one of Ms. Crumb's novels, you find yourself in the center of the story, sitting on a mountainside hearing the birds chirping and watching the story occur around you! I'm a little less fond of her latest Nascar themed books, but only because I'm not a big fan of racing. Most likely those who are would be drawn in to them as I have been to her beautiful mountain stories.

s/Melissa Taylor
