Obituary: Ada White McKenny, 96, formerly of Adair Co., KY

Mrs. McKenny was a member of a respected East Adair Co., KY family. She had resided in Coral Gables, FL, where she worked as a waitress before moving to Louisville, KY. She will be buried at Shiloh, Adair Co., near her childhood home

Ada White McKenney, 96, of Louisville, KY, formerly of Adair County, KY and Cape Coral, FL, passed away Thursday, April 23, 2009 at 1:00pmCT at St. Mary & Elizabeth Hospital in Louisville, KY.

The funeral service is Saturday, April 25, 2009 at 2:00pmCT at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg ST, Columbia, KY, with Bro. Norbert Hall the officiating clergy. Interment in Columbia Cemetery. Visitation after 12:00pm NoonCT on Saturday, April 26, 2009, at the funeral home.



She was born July 16, 1912, the daughter of the late John and Mary Ross White of Adair County, KY.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Don McKenney on August 12, 1976.

She is survived by the following:
  • One brother and his wife Norman F. and Ethel White of Louisville, KY.

  • One sister: Frances Carlton of Atlanta, GA

  • Six nieces: Mary F. Sloane, Shirley R. Alvey, Eula K. Dunn, Marcella Hoy, Bessie M. Cape, and Jean Andrada

  • Three nephews: J. B. White and Donald White, both of Columbia, KY, and Bob Morrison

  • And several great nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends
She was a member of Cape Coral Christian Church in Cape Coral, Florida where she had resided for a number of years and was a waitress.

Memorials are suggested to the Shiloh Christian Church and may be left at the Funeral Home.
