Obituary: Mary Frances Pepper, 86, formerly of Columbia, KY

Mrs. Pepper was a native of Columbia, KY, born a member of a prominent Adair County family. She operated her own business in Madisonville, KY. She was an avid genealogy historian and a member of the Church of Christ Latter Day Saints.

Mary Frances Pepper, 86, Madisonville, KY, died Saturday, April 11, 2009, at NHC Healthcare of Madisonville, KY.

The funeral service will be Wednesday, April 15, 2009, at 2:00pmCT at Barnett-Strother Funeral Home in Madisonville, KY, with Bro. Johnny Page and Bro. Jimmy Bourland officiating. Burial will be in East Lawn Cemetery in Hanson, KY. Visitation will be from 5:00pm to 8:00pmCT, Tuesday, April 14, 2009, and after 12NoonCT, Wednesday, April 15, 2009.



A native of Adair County, KY, she was a daughter of the late Mont and Mattie Keltner Maupin.

She was the owner and operator of Credit Bureau and a bookkeeper. She was a member of the Church of Christ Latter Day Saints and was an avid genealogy historian.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Marion Nardine and Morgan Pepper, and by a sister and brother, Libby Dohoney and Jimmy Maupin.

Survivors are the following:
  • Three daughters and sons in law: Linda and David Branson, Nebo, KY; Kathy and Bill Baczek, And Shannon and Russell Allen, all of Hanson, KY

  • Two sons and daughters in law: Phillip and Alice Nardine, Hanson, KY; and Jack and Tammy Pepper, Robards, KY

  • One sister: Martha Caldwell, Columbia, KY

  • Twelve grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren
