CU Professor Weatherly needs bone marrow transfusion National donor bank has no viable matching donors for Dr. Chris Weatherly. Volunteers needed to sign up for quick and painless test for opportunity to help save his life. Dr. Weatherly was a full time professor at CU for three years and continues on the faculty as adjunct professor By Joan C. McKinney, CU news and publications coordinator CAMPBELLSVILLE, KY - One of Campbellsville University's professors, Dr. Kris Weatherly, has been diagnosed with a rare form of leukemia, and the only treatment for this disease is a bone marrow transfusion. Currently, there are no viable donors who are a match for Weatherly in the national donor bank. "It is imperative that Dr. Weatherly receive a transplant within the next couple of months or it could be too late for him," said Chrys Hines, instructor in business at CU. The School of Business and Economics at Campbellsville University, for whom Weatherly teaches online as an adjunct faculty member, is asking for you to agree to be a bone marrow donor. Hines said the test is quick and painless, and free for all students, faculty, staff and the community. She said it is a simple matter of a swabbing the inside of the mouth. A table will be set up in the lobby of the Winters Dining Hall, N. Hoskins Ave., Campbellsville, KY, from 11amET to 1:00pmET, Tuesday, April 14, through Friday, April 17, 2009. Hines said you need to stop by to fill out a short health history and swab your mouth. Doing so will place your name in the national registry and possibly give you the opportunity to help save a life, she said. Weatherly was a full-time professor at Campbellsville University about three years and a recruiting specialist for almost a year. He has taught as an adjunct at CU since July 2007. He lives in Arizona. For more information, contact Hines at (270) 789-5343 or Dr. Rick Corum, professor of business administration (management), at (270) 789-5093.
