Obituary: Cephus Garmon, 99, Edmonton, KY

Mr. Garmon was the head of a large, respected Eastern Metcalfe County family, a retired farmer, and a member of the Red Lick United Brethren Church

Cephus Garmon, 99, Edmonton, KY, died Thursday, April 9, 2009, at NHC Health Care in Glasgow, KY.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm, Sunday, April 12, 2009, at Butler Funeral Home, 201 East ST, Edmonton, KY, with burial in the Jessee Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1:00pmCT until 8:00pmCT, Saturday, April 11, 2009, and after 9:00am, Sunday, at the funeral Home.



He was the son of the late Samuel Crit and Millie Cawthorn Garmon.

He was a retired farmer and a member of the Red Lick United Brethren Church.He is survived by the following:
  • Vanglean (Freeman) Sexton, Edmonton, KY; Vada Sexton, Cave City, KY; and Alyne (Ancel) Froedge, Edmonton, KY

  • Nine grandchildren: Wayne Sexton, Cave City, KY; Jerry (Darlene) Sexton, Cave City, KY; Darrell (Wanda) Sexton, Prestonsburg, KY; Diane (Doug) Gaines, Tennessee; Elaine (Brett) Thompson, Legrande, KY; Mike (Michelle) Froedge, Edmonton, KY; Charles Froedge, Glasgow, KY; Shirley (Jackie) Napier, Glasgow; and Rita (Timothy) England, Glasgow, KY

  • Several great and great great grandchildren
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Ivera Elzada Hagan Garmon; one daughter, Vanetta Brown, and several brothers and sisters.

Casketbearers: Wayne Sexton, Jerry Sexton, Darrell Sexton, Jason England, Trevor Napier, Mike Froedge, and Charles Froedge.Butler Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Cephus Garmon, a retired farmer of Metcalfe County, died Thursday, April 9, in Glasgow, KY. He was 99 years old, and was a member of the Red Lick United Brethren Church near the Adair County line.
