Snakes of Adair Co., KY: Good Black Snake in the Holler

2009-04-08 - The Holler, Old Clearsprings Rd., District 2, Greater Ozark, KY - Photo by Shamarie Claiborne.
SHAMARIE CLAIBORNE took this beautiful photo of a black snake in The Holler. The picture-at-any-price photography side of her overtook the fear of snakes instilled in her by her Gascon, Metcalfe County ancestors. She admits wanting to terminate the snake, but her husband stood up for him, so he continues to hunt vermin in The Holler and other bad snakes. The expert identification of this snake by a qualified herpetologist would be appreciated. True stories of the snakes as valued barn residents would be welcome, as well.
