Adair Co. Courthouse should be a museum To ColumbiaMagazine.com: I think a very fitting use for the old Adair County Courthouse would be as a museum of Adair County history. This could be something that all Adair Countians could take pride in and call their own. In many families there are historical documents, books, pictures, articles of pioneer clothing, tools, and other items too numerous to mention that are just waiting for a home. I'm sure that a lot Adair County families have treasures as well and might consider donating them to a museum. Many communities have already turned their old courthouses into museums. There may be grants available to fund such a venture. A small admission fee could be charged. A courthouse museum could be invaluable as a resource for students, writers, researchers, and as a tourist destination. s/Mary Ann Garnett Dowling Adair County native and descendant of pioneer families of Adair County This story was posted on 2009-04-04 10:43:18
