LWC Football adds 3 Ohio standouts to first class

With lineman Ryan Locker and linebackers Aaron Anderson and Jake Lawrence, Blue Raiders now have 19 committed

By Chris Wells, LWC Sports Information Director

COLUMBIA, Ky. -- The Buckeye State has produced the latest signees for the Lindsey Wilson College football program the school announced on Friday.

Three future Blue Raiders from the state of Ohio will join Coach Chris Oliver's first class this fall at Lindsey Wilson.

Linebackers Aaron Anderson and Jake Lawrence and offensive/defensive lineman Ryan Locker have each signed a national letter-of-intent.

Oliver is excited that the Lindsey Wilson program can reach outside the commonwealth of Kentucky.

"It's a great sign that our program is able to attract top prospects from outside Kentucky," Oliver said. "Ohio is one of the areas that we will focus on with our recruiting efforts."

Anderson, a 6-foot, 235 pound linebacker from Fairbanks High School, was named the 2008 Division V Central Conference and District Defensive Player of the Year. The Marysville native also was named to the First Team All Ohio in Division V during his senior season.

Lawrence, a 6-foot-1, 225 pound linebacker from Marion Pleasant High School, was named the Mid-Ohio Athletic Conference Player of the Year this past season and placed on the First Team All Ohio Division IV team. The Marion native was also named the Division IV Central District Defensive Player of the Year.

Locker, a 6-foot-1, 265 pound lineman from Eaton High School was named to the 2008 Division III Second Team All Southwest Ohio during his senior season. The Eaton native earned first team honors the previous season.

"As evidenced by their tremendous accolades these three young men have a great deal of ability on the football field," Oliver said. "However, what's just as exciting to me is the leadership ability that all three possess. Aaron, Jake, and Ryan all fit the mold of the type of prospect that you want in your program. I'm excited that they've made the decision to attend Lindsey Wilson College."

The trio joins 19 others who have already inked with the Blue Raiders. Lindsey Wilson's first game is scheduled for September 4, 2010, at home.
