More on Cane Valley, KY settlers after reading Cyrus story There's a plaque at Thomas Jefferson's Monticello showing a bill of laden from Jefferson to Charles Massie's father, who sold apples and cider to Jefferson. Charles Massie was an early settler of Cane Valley, Adair Co., KY About: "Cyrus/Cane Valley, 1918, with ''On the Road'' To ColumbiaMagazine.com I just read the article about Cane Valley and found it interesting in that both men mentioned are ancestors of mine. Charles Massie moved to Kentucky from Albemarle Co. Virginia. He lived near a small town called Batesville. His father, Thomas, sold apples and cider to Thomas Jefferson. There is even a plaque at Monticelo, showing a bill of laden from Jefferson to Massie. Massie and two Page brother James and Edward left Batesville for KY. One Page brother settled in Barren Co., KY, the other in Cane Valley. Just thought I would send this story to you. s/Nancy Moran Fouser This story was posted on 2009-03-29 00:47:40
