Hanley Drive is reached by entering Carrie Bolin Drive between the clinics of Dr. Steven Brashear and Dr. Terry Grant. Hanley Drive is first street east off Carrie Bolin Drive. -CM By Chris Wells, LWC Sports Information Director The Lindsey Wilson College baseball team overcame a five-run deficit to beat No. 8-ranked Campbellsville (KY) University 14-11 on Friday at Raider Field. Lindsey Wilson College junior Max Rhodes picked up his second win of the season while throwing a remarkable 165 pitches over 6-2/3 innings. In addition to his pitching efforts, the Florence, Ala., native, was 2-for-3 at the plate with three runs batted in. The Blue Raiders (9-12, 3-6 in the Mid-South Conference) grabbed a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning. Lindsey Wilson junior Justin Tucker provided the big hit in the inning with a two-run single to give the Blue Raiders a 2-0 lead. Senior Daniel Eck added a RBI single to give Lindsey Wilson a 3-0 lead after one inning. Campbellsville (22-4, 9-1) responded in the top of the second with a three-run inning of its own. Junior Zach Townsend hit the first of two Tiger home runs on the day to tie the game at 3-3. Tigers continue offensive onslaught in top of third The Tigers continued their offensive onslaught in the top of the third with a five-run inning to take an 8-3 lead. Junior Colin Bryan led off the inning with a home run and junior Alex Ponich added a two-run single to help the visitors take a five run lead. The Blue Raiders started their comeback in the bottom of the fourth as Rhodes delivered a three-run double to cut the Tigers lead to one run. Freshman Jeff Murphys single plated Rhodes to tie the game at 8-8. Raiders take lead for good in the bottom of the fifth Lindsey Wilson grabbed the lead for good in the bottom of the fifth as two runs scored on a pair of wild pitches by Campbellsville senior reliever Bryan Fuller. The Blue Raiders added four runs -- two thanks to senior Kelly Maynards double -- in the sixth to take a 14-8 lead. Campbellsville refused to die, scoring three times in the top of the seventh to cut the lead in half. The Tigers chased Rhodes one out short of a complete game. Rhodes finished the game allowing 10 earned runs on 12 hits. He struck out seven Campbellsville batters while issuing seven walks. While Rhodes day ended with his 165th pitch, Lindsey Wilson junior Cody Wales needed just one pitch to pick up his second save of the season. With Campbellsville runners on first and third and the tying run at the plate in reining MSC Player of the Week Brian Chase, Wales delivered the pitch and Chase pounded it to Lindsey Wilson shortstop Garrett Helm who took the short out at second base to end the game at 14-11.
