Obituary: Shelby B. Thomas, 69, Metcalfe Co., KY

Mr. Thomas was retired from Peerless Pump in Indianapolis. He was a man of strong Pentecostal faith and travelled extensively as an evangelist and musician

Shelby B. Thomas, 69, Summer Shade, KY, and formerly of Indianapolis, IN, passed away Wednesday, March 25, 2009, surrounded by his family.

The funeral service will be held at 6:00pm, Friday, March 27, 2009, at Butler Funeral Home, East Street on the Square, Edmonton, KY. Visitation wiill be from 11:00am until 6:00pmCT, Friday, March 27, 2009 at the funeral home. Burial will be at the Haddock Cemetery in Jackson, KY.


Mr. Thomas was preceded in death by his parents, Chester and Hazel Thomas and one brother, Wilgus "Coss" Thomas.

He is survived by his wife, Ova G. Thomas, and the following:
  • Four children and thier spouses: Theressa G. and Bill Kessinger, Ocala, FL; Shelby B. Thomas, Jr., and Larry P. and Theresa Thomas, all of Summer Shade, KY; and Tammy Thomas, Edmonton, KY

  • Eight brothers and sisters: James Thomas, Vemidji, MN; Robert Thomas, Cold Springs, KY; Jack Littlefield and Lyn Alavaro, Waco, TX; Lori Hudson, Lost Creek, KY; Thelma Combs and Ritchie, Jackson, KY; Charles Thomas, Oakdale, KY

  • Thirteen grandchildrn and seven great grandchildren
Mr. Thomas was a man of strong Pentecostal faith, devoting his life to God as a traveling minister and musician, and teaching the principles of Christian love. He was a long time member of the Truth Apostolic Church in Indianapolis, IN, as well as th House of Prayer in Edmonton, KY. He was retired from Peerless Pump in Indianapolis, IN.
