The Lindsey Wilson Singers will perform at 10:30amCT on Wednesday, March 25, 2009, at the Norma and Glen Hodge Center for Discipleship, located on Helen Flatt Drive just east of the Begley Chapel and facing the Cranmer Dining Center. The performance , which is part of the college's weekly chapel service, will feature parts of the Singers' Spring Tour Home Concert, which will be on April 6, 2009. The Singers will also perform at 6:30pmCT Wednesday at Columbia Baptist Church, 201 Greensburg ST, Columbia, KY. Both events are free and open to the public. "For this season, we have 25 remarkably talented Lindsey Wilson Singers who represent numerous majors and all classes, freshman through senior," said Associate Professor of Music and Director of Choral Programs Gerald L. Chafin. Wednesday's performances are outlined into three divisions, Chafin said. The first section centers on the first chapter of the Gospel of John. "Textually, we focus on 'The Word was God' theme," Chafin said. "But musically we alternate between the Renaissance era and the contemporary era." The second section takes various texts from the Psalms and again alternates between Renaissance and contemporary eras. The third section highlights the choral spiritual genre with an emphasis on justice. "The historic Underground Railroad movement is connected to the Old Testament account of the Israelites leaving slavery in Egypt," Chafin said. "The connection is that Underground Railroad leader Harriet Tubman was often called Moses." 2008-09 Lindsey Wilson Singers roster Molly Atkinson, Louisville, KY, Josh Baird, Strunk, KY, Trey Ball, Strunk, KY, Andrew Biddle, Paris, KY, Chelsea Buckman, Henderson, KY, Jennifer Burdine, Pine Knot, KY, Brittany Corbin, Columbia,, KY, Logan Fausnaugh, Gradyville, KY, Katelin Frederick, Hustonville, KY, Barrett Gamez, Louisville, KY, Branden Grubb, Williamsburg, KY, Amanda Hester, Munfordville, KY, Anna-Catherine Hook, Louisville, KY, Travis Jones, KY, Sara Keller, Greenville, IN, KY, Lauren Lile, Bowling Green, KY, Jessicca Massengale, Vine Grove, KY, Tyler McCubbins , Magnolia, KY, Travis Mitchell, Smiths Grove, KY, Nicole Moyer, LaGrange, KY, Alyssa Ridener, Stearns, KY, Laura Smith, Glasgow, KY, Brett Stamps, Paris, KY, Josh Stephens, Stearns, KY, Matthew Williams, Horse Cave and Brandon Wood, Columbia, KY.
